Update 05/09/2024 - Peak Season Surcharges
CSM Logistics delivers shipments around the world using a number of suppliers each utilising a significant amount of commercial airline capacity providing the coverage and service levels that you have come to expect, connecting all 220+ countries and territories worldwide.
During periods of high demand, the shipment volume materially exceeds some of the carrier base levels of network capacity. In addition, over recent years, global trade has become increasingly unpredictable, volatile, and challenging. Introducing the Demand Surcharge allows for the allocation of additional resource and capacity as needed in response to global dynamics, enabling us to continue to deliver the best possible service for you and your customers.
The key suppliers that will be implementing a Demand Surcharge are UPS and DHL. Details of which are as follows:
UPS
UPS will be introducing a Surge Fee for any Express Freight, Express, Express Saver, Express Plus or Expedited cross-border shipments. This fee is subject to Fuel Surcharge and will apply based on the billable weight of the shipment.
CSM services that will be affected when utilising UPS’ network are CSM 9, CSM 12, CSM 24, CSM Express, CSM Economy (rest of world).
CSM Economy into Europe will not be affected.

DHL

CSM services that will be affected when utilising DHL’s network are CSM 9, CSM 12, CSM 24, CSM Express,CSM Medical Express and CSM Economy (European desitinations).
Please note that the UPS Surge and DHL Demand surcharges will both be subject to the prevailing fuel surcharge.

Update 04/09/2024 - UPS Demand Surcharge
As peak season approaches, UPS will be introducing a number of surcharges affective from 9th September 2024 to help ensure their services operate as expected. The charges are being passed on by CSM at cost and will only apply to those shipments that route via UPS, our system will where possible route away from UPS to try and help our customers with these charges, however we would encourage all customers to be vigilant and “get a Quote” or “Estimate Cost” during the point of processing a shipment during this peak period.
We strongly advise all customers to enter the correct dimensions at the time of processing as all consignments are subject to an audit by all carriers.
Any under declared shipments could be subject to a re charge should they meet the criteria outlined.
Where a consignment sent meets the specifications for Additional Handling, Large Package Limits and Over Maximum, all existing surcharges will increase by 10%.
Further to the above the following additional charges will apply:
- A Demand Surcharge of £6.50 will apply to packages that require Additional Handling until January 31 2025.
- A Demand Surcharge of £62.40 will apply to packages defined as Large Packages until January 31 2025.
